love is life

Life is not a color-within-the-lines project; life is a work of art. You have to keep mixing colors, creating new blends, and seeing things in fresh ways. You must be willing to get paint all over you. Life is about growth. Growth demands change. Change requires humility.Sometimes you need to bring change; sometimes you need to be changed. -erwin mcmanus

‘I love you’ means that I accept you for the person that you are, and that I do not wish to change you into someone else. It means that I will love you and stand by you even through the worst of times. It means loving you even when you’re in a bad mood, or too tired to do the things I want to do. It means loving you when you’re down, not just when you’re fun to be with. ‘I love you’ means that I know your deepest secrets and do not judge you for them, asking in return that you do not judge me for mine. It means that I care enough to fight for what we have and that I love you enough not to let go. It means thinking of you, dreaming of you, wanting and needing you constantly, and hoping you feel the same about me.

We rarely hear about the little acts of love that exist between partners, where there are no plot twists or last-minute obstacles. There are few films, few books about a woman who packs a lunch for her husband every morning and cuts the crust off his sandwich, or the man who works an extra job at night for two years so his boyfriend can attend law school, or the couple who lies in bed at night and asks each other how their day was and really listens. Sure, that might be a component of the story, but it is sure to be drowned out by the conflict and the thrill that we want to see. And there is nothing wrong with that, we like excitement. But sometimes it’s hard not to miss the attention paid to the little, unglamorous acts of love that make up a true partnership.

For years, this quote has been my email signature. It’s been sent to everyone I know, worked for, lived with, loved. Most days I forget it’s there; then every once in a while it catches my attention.Jeff and I have just decided to take a huge step together. We’ve been dreaming, imagining, of living someplace warm- someplace with community, where our faith and family can grow. Someplace that has room for us to explore, get outdoors, soak up Gods creation, and enjoy every God given day. We are doing it. We are no longer just imaging, we are making that life real. We have been blessed with an incredible opportunity. We are moving to Raleigh, North Carolina in a few.short.weeks. (!!)We are learning and growing, saying goodbyes, hellos, and being faithful to God.We are choosing adventure. Together.

this intimacy she’s talking about.
it’s been happening.

there have been quiet yet unmistakable whispers to me from God this past week.
a steadiness unlike anything i’ve ever felt before.
a calmness and sense of sure i’ve never had.
it’s different from a gut feeling; it doesn’t come from within, it comes from above.

_
the following is from this blog
“If you’ve never lived your life like the pages of the Bible, literally leaving everything that is secure and known behind, jumping off a cliff where only God can see the landing…I encourage you to DO IT.

Follow hard after the call of God on your life, no matter what the cost. Leave behind what is comfortable and familiar and embrace the mystery of God as He reveals Himself to you in ways you could never imagine.

It’s not easy, in fact, it’s HORRIFYING at times.

But, I wouldn’t trade this

Intimacy with God

for anything else in the world.

There’s nothing like it.

Miracles happen. Prayers are answered. Faith is stirred. Passion rises. Hope prevails.

There’s something powerful about God truly being your

Only Hope.

No job, no family, no friends.

Just you and Jesus.
